Reporting From Within The Smog of Portland

I got a cough drop
lodged back
in my throat
Causing me to choke twice on this smoke

Can’t help it,
bones shaking
my throat dry from self-medication
turned to self-hate

Soothing dry vape
worshipped once, now I can’t relate

Who was this person before all this dead weight?

Before the burden bent me in two?
Broke me as I tried to get up

To

Make a life built of plastic
and dust

Rust

Orange grey covers
the white mask
it smothers
the guilt and the fear
stored away
behind a smog

Oh, dear….
